Pulling Hair Out

I’m not complaining mind you, but I just thought I would ask! It appears with the coming of spring everyone is waking up. My sleep hours are down to 3-4 hours a day so its a good thing I am 50 because quite frankly I would be comatose by now if I had to survive on 3 hours of sleep when I was in my 20′s. I could simply not function with less then 8 hours of sleep and after my work shifts and on weekends I would fall into bed and be unwakable. Anyhow so sometimes ageing is a good thing in that respect I guess… My life has turned to insanely hectic as of late.

I am making videos and animations until my head spins. Not only am I doing things to please my hobby I have taken on a bit of a job to produce a small animated series in iclone on the subject of recycling for a local not for profit group. Iclone just released one heck of an upgrade to their software which had they done it 2 months sooner would have resulted in a much “cooler” borring recycling video. I am not pleased with the first video in that series I produced and I suspect I would have been a little bit pleased at least had I had this new upgrade available as one of my star performers was an animated mouse who’s tail kept getting lost in the geometry of the ground. The group is pleased with my work, but rarely am I truly pleased with what I make so next video in the series maybe we will both be pleased. We shall see!

Muvizu 3D created by Digimania -a software I discovered about a year ago and started using seriously to see what I could make it do this summer- has decided to launch and revealed a few of their up and coming plans in a livestreamed presentation this last weekend. This of course means that improvements are in their pipeline including a 1080p resolution, improved timeline, new stuff and more new stuff. I somehow managed to become a mogul on that site and this at times comes with a few responsibilities like you know supposedly I am supposed to know the answers to lots of stuff.  So far I seem to be doing okay and since I enjoy helping people out and making “cool stuff” I have no problems with it and have started working on a couple of projects with a few very interesting and creative individuals mostly as “the geek who knows how to build things”. Although I had wanted to leave my modelling abilities behind of course the first thing I started to do when I picked up Muvizu was make things and see what things I could squeeze into their 3D environment. I can’t help myself I like to make pretty things. I am having a blast though as they are quite a fun group and I feel quite honoured to help out and when what I do makes other people happy and able to move forward with what they want to do then I am ecstatic so I have definately found a nice group of people to work (and play) with.

New World Grid is going to relaunch which means that I may be reassuming my position as moderator inside the world. I know that there were plans there but I am unsure what I am going to do with New World Grid once it relaunches. I dont even know if I have time! In tandem New World Studio is picking up steam and finally also has decided to launch its commercial version so I accepted to help moderate the group when Olivier is not around to ensure we dont run into issues that we had in the past. So far everything is going well, but as usual in the world of software once the software is written there is always some annoying legal problem so release of the software is delayed until legal minds can be consulted. Never-the-less I am happy to see this package finally go commercial. I have been following it for years now and really when it comes to the opensimulator platform its the answer to pretty much all the annoying technical issues which relegated opensim to be usable only by “the hardcore geek”. When this release happens I think the barriers will come down and things will likely start to change in the opensim world because anyone with a pc even if they only know how to turn it on will be able to use it for whatever they please. I suppose I should make a few more avatars or something but so far everyone is quite happy with the ones that exist so maybe I will leave that for the future when I have more time to spare.

With the advances in iclone which basically have changed well everything when it comes to animating now and the release of muvizu 3D as a commercial non-beta product and the release of New World Studio as a commercial product and the borring yet necessary recycling series I am working on I think my plate is full!

(maybe tonight I will get 5 hours of sleep)
